Dubai 24h. Es geht los. Die Autos werden ausgepackt

Unlocking the chains

Finally the day has arrived for all the Dunlop 24H DUBAI 2013 teams to be reunited with their cars and equipment. All hands on deck for the team members, because it's time to unload the containers. After a period of 'long time no see' the teams are more than ready to open up their container. With the advent of all participating teams the paddock has transformed into a vibrant area.

Earlier this morning most of the teams couldn't wait to get started. At 8:00 AM (Dubai time) the first chains of the containers were cut through. Full of excitement the team crews were awaiting of their cars and equipment. At this moment more teams are arriving at the Dubai Autodrome, so we are still busy with opening up containers.

The atmosphere at the paddock immediately changed with all those people. In total 82 teams will participate in the 8th edition of the Dunlop 24H DUBAI. The biggest international motorsport event in the UAE presents a wide range of different car brands, like Aston Martin Vantage GT3, Audi R8 LMS ultra,
BMW Z4 GT3 and Ferrari 458 Italia in the A6 class. The SP2 class has eight entries, including Renault Mégane and GC Automobile silhouette cars, a Chevrolet Corvette, an Audi TT RS and two new cars: a BMW M3 silhouette and the Belgian VDS GT 001-R, which is making its competition debut. In the D1 diesel class, a Volkswagen and a SEAT will be up against three BMW's and the A2 class has nine entries, with a Honda, a Citröen C2, a Lotus Elise, three Minis and as many Renault Clios.

Today's program is to continue with the set up of the paddock and pitboxes. The race administration is open to welcome all the teams. Besides teams have the opportunity to do all their administrative checks and scrutineering.

The first laps at the track will be driven tomorrow. At 10:45 AM (Dubai time) the Dubai Autodrome hosts the Rent a Car Ride. In the afternoon the teams have the first opportunity to test the track and their car. From 13:00 PM till 17:00 there will be an optional private test. To make sure all the teams can burn their rubber, the Dunlop crew is already in full speed to provide top tires.
